VDA Testimony to SD Senate Committee on Appropriations Hearing on Feb 21 in Support of HB 1063

On February 21, I testified (in person) before the SD Senate Committee on Appropriations in Pierre and delivered the following statement in support of HB 1063:

“Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of the Committee.

My name is Zebadiah Johnson. I’m from Sioux Falls, SD, and I am the lobbyist on behalf of the Voter Defense Association of South Dakota. We rise in support of this bill.

To echo the previous proponents, we believe voters deserve accurate, up-to-date information when deciding ballot questions, and that is not currently the case in some situations, as previously stated.

We think the initiative process works well, and this bill would further improve that process both on the voter end and to the legitimacy of the process as a whole.

We’d ask for your favorable consideration. Thank you.”
