VDA Testimony to SD Senate State Affairs Committee Hearing on Feb 20 in Opposition to SB 188

On February 20, I testified (in person) before the SD Senate State Affairs Committee in Pierre and delivered the following statement in opposition to SB 188:

“Good afternoon, Mr. Chairman.

My name is Zebadiah Johnson, I’m with the Voter Defense Association of South Dakota; we rise in opposition to this bill as well.

We feel that it introduces needless hurdles into our absentee voting system. I’d like to note that of our neighboring states, only Minnesota requires an excuse to vote absentee.

We have a policy that works in South Dakota, we don’t feel this bill is something that South Dakota needs, and we would ask you to oppose this bill. Thank you.”
